Our Journey to
a Dedicated Boarding Section
We are on a mission to create a dedicated boarding section at our primary school, Faith Elementary that will empower children to overcome barriers and reach their full potential.
In January 2023, Project Orphans embarked on a journey to provide top-notch education in a poverty-stricken area of rural Uganda and built Faith Elementary, our first-ever primary school. Faith Elementary was built with two key goals in mind: to offer quality education at an affordable price to children in our community and to ensure the best education for the kids in our Project Orphans Education for a Nation Sponsorship Program.
Our pursuit to build Faith Elementary school wasn't an easy one. With no available land near our Pearl Village Compound, we had to establish the school 3 miles away. This created several challenges, particularly for children living far away, who had to endure a long and tiring daily commute.

Many children at Faith Elementary face long and arduous journeys to school each day, which impacts their safety, well-being, and learning.
Opening Our Dormitories: A Temporary Transformative Solution
With many children living too far a distance to access a quality education, we made an impactful decision and opened our dormitories at Project Orphans Pearl Village to accommodate students attending Faith Elementary (3 miles away). This decision was driven by our dedication to ensuring every child receives the education they deserve, even if we didn't have the funds for a dedicated boarding section at that time.

The Challenges
Long and Difficult Commutes
The long and arduous daily journeys to school pose risks to the safety, well-being, and punctuality of the students. Overcoming this challenge by establishing a boarding section would eliminate these obstacles and provide a safe, convenient, and consistent educational experience.
Restricted Access to Educational Opportunities
Children from disadvantaged backgrounds face financial constraints that limit their access to quality education. By establishing a boarding section we can bridge the gap and provide children with an equal opportunity that will empower them to break free from the cycle of poverty, pursue their dreams, and change their community.
Limited Resources and Space
The current infrastructure at Pearl Village, where some children stay, is constrained, limiting the school's ability to create an optimal learning environment. Building a dedicated boarding section would provide ample space, resources, and facilities to enhance the educational experience for the students.
The Opportunity
Alleviate Challenges and Create a Focused and Supportive Environment
Over time, we witnessed the incredible positive impact of having students reside at Pearl Village. Living and learning together fostered a sense of community, support, and growth among the children. It became evident that transitioning all the children out of Pearl Village and into a dedicated boarding section would be a game-changer for their educational experience.
Besides the obvious impact a Boarding Section will have on the children’s commute, maximizing time and safety—on-campus living will also draw a larger student body and provide:
Academic excellence: Boarding schools typically have higher academic standards than day schools. This is because they have more resources and can attract better teachers. Boarding schools also have smaller class sizes, which allows teachers to give more individual attention to students.
Character development: There is a unique opportunity for students to develop their character as they learn to live and work independently, and are exposed to a variety of cultures and viewpoints. This can help them become more well-rounded individuals.
Life skills: Boarding sections teach students valuable life skills, such as time management, problem-solving, and teamwork. These skills are essential for success in college and beyond.
Friendships: Students become part of a close-knit community where lifelong friendships are formed. These friendships can provide support and encouragement throughout school and beyond.
