Many children in our village are forced to sleep on piles of rags, bug-infested mattresses, or on a hard dirt floor covered with a simple mat. Not only is this uncomfortable, but it puts these children at risk of parasites, bug bites, and other diseases. When children sleep on the floor, they are more likely to be bitten by bugs and attract dangerous parasites. According to the World Health Organization, these poor sleeping conditions can often lead to diseases like trypanosomiasis or African sleeping sickness.
